Young adults have been robbed of the mystery and enchantment of romance. Does anyone go out on a date anymore?

Young women are giving up on young men who are swamped by a culture that doesn't encourage male maturity. It isn't easy for young men, I know that if, as a young man, I was surrounded by easy access to pornography, amazing video games, and technology beyond incredible in my pants pocket by way of the smart phone, I could have been easily lost to the outside world. Our young men need help and it requires a cultural shift. Anthropologist Margaret Mead has been quoted as saying that “the supreme task of any society is to teach its men to be good fathers.”

I'm not letting young women off easy, but I do think they have it tougher. They are objectified by our society now more than at any other time in our history. The 'hook up" culture separates soul from body and that is tougher on women whose hearts are more intertwined with sexuality than those who hold sway over their education will acknowledge. Women also have the pressures of the biological clock, career expectations, and coping with men who are themselves coping with maturity and discipline.

We need a new sexual revolution. One that rejects the notion that sexual license is a vital part of personal freedom.

My hope is that in this section of Peter's Bench, the young will find fellow rebels in the fight for a new form of freedom.

Viva la revolution!!!
